RoWorld Ports Guide: Trade Ships and Warship Access
Quick answer
- Ports send trade ships that generate gold.
- Ports also allow warship construction.
- Sending an overseas troop boat is a separate action from building a warship.
Choose why your nation needs a port
A RoWorld port has two useful roles in the gameplay guide: gold-generating trade ships and access to warship construction. Decide which role serves your position before committing to maritime development.
If you want income, consider whether you can keep the surrounding area useful and defended. If you want a navy, choose the sea objective the warships should support. A port is more purposeful when it belongs to one of those plans.
Trade ships and warships do different work
Trade ships generate gold. Warships can fight at sea, shoot enemy transports and interfere with trade traffic in the RoWorld walkthrough. Do not describe every vessel leaving the coast as the same kind of unit.
A threatened economy and a planned invasion can therefore create different port priorities. Use the warship guide when enemy ships or transports are the problem you want the naval investment to address.
Keep transport invasions as a separate decision
The guide describes sending troop boats to water-separated countries. That action moves troops toward a landing; it is not interchangeable with producing a warship. Enemy warships can stop transports, so the sea around the destination matters.
Use build ports for adding the infrastructure and use ports for choosing between its economic and naval roles. For taking land across the water, continue to amphibious landings.
